Consignment FAQ
The watch will be priced competitively with an aim to sell within a 30 day period. Upon receiving your watch, we need to inspect it and allow 2-7 days to prepare the watch for retail. If the watch requires a mechanical service and/or professional refurbishment, we will proceed with this before the watch is advertised for sale.
We require a minimum of 30 days to sell the watch. You will receive a consignment agreement via Esign with the details of the watch and the agreed return amount. You must sign this document to authorise us to sell the watch on your behalf. This also acts as your receipt to acknowledge that the watch is in our possession.
In the unlikely event that the watch hasn’t sold in the first 30 days we can discuss a price reduction to make the watch more attractive to buyers. We may also make you a cash offer to purchase the watch from you directly. Alternatively, we can return the watch to you and we’ll cover the postage cost..
We look to sell your watch for around 10% more than the agreed return amount. When pricing the watch we have to account for additional costs. These include platform fees, price negotiation, potential part-exchanges, payment processing fees, our warranty and insured international shipping.
If the watch sells in-store: You will be paid within 5-7 working days upon the receipt of funds into our account.

If your watch is mechanical, it will need winding periodically. If your watch has a quartz movement, it might need a change of battery. A manual watch will need around 40 crown rotations when completely unwound and will resist when fully wound. An automatic watch will also run out of power if not worn enough and will continue to wind past full. The crown on water resistant watches may need to be unscrewed first.
A mechanical watch is powered by a tightly wound mainspring. Manual mechanical watches need to be hand wound, usually every other day, to keep them powered. Automatic watches are also mechanical, but they are mainly wound by a rotor weight that moves with the wearer’s movements. In contrast, a quartz watch is battery powered and highly accurate. The battery in a basic time-and-date quartz watch typically lasts between one and five years.
The battery life of a quartz watch is influenced by various factors, such as the age of the watch and its features. Typically, a battery in a simple quartz watch displaying only time and date can last between one and five years. A common sign of a battery nearing its end is when the second hand starts to “double tick.” Certain Breitling watches will display “EOL,” indicating the battery’s end of life.
